So Cranky Consumer came to the couple's aid, enlisting outside companies to help them develop customized wedding vows for the ceremony. Writers from three Web sites -- Special Occasion Poetry, Enchantment Online, and Ghostwriters Central -- took a crack at vows based on our couple's specifications. In addition, we downloaded a kit from to help the couple express themselves in their own words.
Enchantment Online, a service run by a Florida-based wedding coordinator, provided forms with extensive check boxes, pull-down menus and open-ended questions about their story. But in some cases, the form didn't allow the couple to specify which information pertained to which partner, making it difficult to complete. Special Occasion Poetry, a service that provides poems for events ranging from weddings to funerals, uses a form that asks about each partner's traits, hobbies and talents. Ghostwriters Central, run by a speechwriter, asked the couple to answer questions about their history, describe their partner's traits, and indicate whether specific memories, thoughts, quotes or sentiments should appear in vows; our couple found this service's questions the most thought-provoking.
Ghostwriters Central Reviews - Writers - Burbank, CA
Ghostwriters Central is a partnership formed in 2002. The partners are Eric Shapiro and Michael McKown. Eric is originally from Manalapan, NJ, with a bachelor's degree in Writing, Literature & Publishing from Emerson College. Before we created this business, Eric was working as a book editor. He has written, produced and directed two feature films, and he's written six books under his own name. Michael began as a Navy journalist, created and ran the bimonthly magazine for the nation's largest working dog organization for two and a half years, then created and was editor/publisher of a specialty magazine for 22 years. Ghostwriters Central's one-page vows were the favorite, offering an exchange of appreciation between the couple and a vow to recite before the groom kisses the bride. Some of the vows' language showed the writer didn't really know the couple personally -- the bride said she would never call herself "beyond excited" about anything, not even launching married life, as the vows stated -- but otherwise the straightforward tone felt suitable. The results varied widely, though each service provides revisions upon request. Ghostwriters Central and Special Occasion Poetry provided vows only, whereas Enchantment Online provided a full service.
